“Sunken Temple” – Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico – July 2023

Story :I took this shot during my one year trip to Mexico between 2022 and 2023. At that time, I was on my friend’s homestead near Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, in the tropical forest. A luxuriant sanctuary where a refreshing river runs. I came to visit this river almost everyday during my two months stay on his land, after exhausting and rewarding working sessions, honoring the Earth with our energy, sweat and blood. This river is very special to me as it provided us with freshness everytime we came to visit it. It was also an amazing playground for me and my camera, capturing fantastic shots while walking up the stream. The light reflecting on this wet rock and the emerald and golden colours fascinate me. When I applied the symmetry to this picture, I was instantly amazed by the beauty of what was unveiling in front of me. I remember feeling shivers running down my spine, as I contemplated what appeared to me as a portal. A portal hidden in the Sunken Temple of this River.
