Ocean Deity

“Ocean Deity” – Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico – July 2023

Story : I took this shot during my one year trip to Mexico between 2022 and 2023. At that time, I was visiting a friend in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca. He took me to an amazing beach, Playa Manzanillo, where we regularly came to enjoy the ocean’s vibrations. On one side of the beach, there were big rocks on which it was easy to climb to admire the power of the waves crashing on the shore. I made my way to the top of these rocky formations and sat there to enjoy the fantastic show the ocean was offering me. The waves were huge and I could feel the immeasurable force emanating from them. I then took a few pictures to see what was going to emerge from the symmetry edit. When I came back home later to create some artworks, I was mesmerized by the patterns. I was seeing godlike figures in the symmetry. More precisely, the head of a giant elemental snake, an Ocean Deity.
